Herbert S. Tipping, Pharmacist, Dies

Funeral arrangements are pending for Herbert Spencer Tipping, a native of Mill Valley, who died Friday at the Ft. Miley Veteran’s Hospital in San Francisco after suffering a heart attack in his home at 3 Summit avenue. He was 62.

His only survivor is a stepbrother, Walter Muntz, also of Mill Valley.

A bachelor, Tipping was a pharmacist. He had been employed at Vernon’s Pharmacy in Mill Valley for 14 years.

Tipping's parents had made their home in San Francisco but maintained a Mill Valley summer home where he was born in 1896. The Tipping family moved to Mill Valley when their San Francisco home was destroyed in the 1906 fire and earthquake.

Tipping had been a member of the Army Medical Corps in World War I and had been a registered pharmacist since 1917. He was a longtime member of the California Pharmaceutical Assn.
