Auguste Wagele Succumbs

August Wagele, longtime Marin resident, died yesterday in his home at 16 San Rafael Avenue, San Anselmo, after an illness.

Wagele, 84, was the former owner of the New Marin Bakery on Fourth Street in San Rafael, which he bought as a young man from the late Frank Reed.

Wagele retired in 1927 to join his three children attending University of California in Berkeley. He returned to Marin 10 years ago.

A native of Germany, he immigrated with his family to Oakland when 10.

His wife, Martha L. Wagele, died two years ago. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Helen Del Tredici of San Anselmo and Mrs. Martha Mood of San Antonio, Tex.; a son, August Wagele of Greenbrae; a sister, Anna Wagele of San Anselmo, and 10 grandchildren.

Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Anselm’s Church in San Anselmo. The cortege will leave Harry M. Williams Mortuary in San Rafael at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael.

A Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.
