William R. Mitzlaff Dies At 79
Retired Army Maj. William R. Mitzlaff, 79, of San Rafael, died today in a San Francisco hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Illinois, he lived in San Rafael 28 years. He resided at 49 Harte Avenue.
Mitzlaff served in the Army Medical Corps from 1917 to 1945, when he retired.
He was a 50-year member of Richard Cole Lodge No. 697, Free and Accepted Masons, Chicago, San Francisco Consistory of Scottish Rite Bodies, Islam Temple, Ancient Accepted Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Army Chapter No. 336, Order of the Eastern Star, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and the Retired Officers Association of the Military Services.
He is survived by his wife, Ida, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Krause of Illinois.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. Marin Lodge No. 191, F and AM, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
