JAMES TURMAN
Funeral was held Friday at the Hamilton Air Force Base chapel for James Parker Turman of Novato, who died last week in San Francisco after a long illness.
A retired Navy lieutenant and a 20-year Marin resident, he was a native of Texas. He joined the Navy as a young man and was stationed aboard the battleship Maryland the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He served in the Pacific during World War II.
He worked at several jobs in the Bay area following his retirement from the Navy after a 21-year career. He was manager of the Bella Vista water district in Redding for a few years.
He was a member of the Retired Officers Association.
Turman is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Turman of Novato; a daughter, Stephenie Alicia Turman of Novato; a stepson, Rodney B. Evans of Rohnert Park; and one grandson.
The family prefers memorial donations to Hospice of Marin.
