Retired Banker Leroy Rudolph Dies At 66
Leroy Rudolph, retired San Rafael banker, died Saturday at a local hospital, a few hours after suffering a stroke. He was 66.
Rudolph was with Bank of America for more than 45 years before retiring in November 1971. He served as manager of the main San Rafael office for the last 11 years of his banking career.
Rudolph was born in Petaluma and lived all his life in Sonoma and Marin counties.
He began his banking career in 1926 as a bookkeeper in the Petaluma office of the Bank of American and worked there until he was transferred to Cloverdale in 1937.
He first came to San Rafael in 1941 as assistant cashier and chief clerk. He was appointed operations officer five years later.
In 1952 Rudolph advanced to assistant manager of the Santa Rosa main branch and in 1958 he received his first managerial assignment, at the Montgomery Village office in Santa Rosa.
In 1960 he returned to San Rafael to manage the branch and in 1962 he was name vice president of the bank.
Through the years Rudolph participated in many civic affairs, belonging to the San Rafael Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Redwood Empire Association and Marin Cerebral Palsy Association.
He was also a member of the Marin County Employees Retirement Board.
He made his home most recently at 135 Nova Albion Way in the Terra Linda section of San Rafael.
Rudolph’s wife, Marjorie, died in 1966.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary R. Stone of Los Altos and Mrs. Patricia Lee Henderson of St. Helena; two brothers, Edward and Otto Rudolph, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Bourke, all of Petaluma, and four grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
Private burial will be in Cypress Hills Cemetery, Petaluma.
