Stanley R. Sexton (sic), Water District Aide
Private funeral for Stanley R. Saxton, retired official with the Marin Municipal Water District and former city treasurer of Mill Valley, was today in Mill Valley.
Saxton, 79, died Saturday at his home in Mill Valley after a long illness.
A native of San Francisco, he was reared in Marin and lived here all his life.
He retired in 1958 after 30 years with the water district for which he ran a Mill Valley branch office. The office was closed shortly before his retirement. He served three terms as city treasurer of Mill Valley in the 1930s.
He was a veteran of World War I. He belonged to the Mill Valley Lodge No. 356, Free and Accepted Masons.
He lived at 54 Hillcrest Road in Mill Valley.
His wife, Rita, died in 1960.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley R. Saxton Jr. of Napa, and George R. Saxton of Kentfield; a sister, Ruth Satmary of Larkspur, and three grandchildren.
Burial will be private at Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma.
