MAUREEN SCHERTZER

Maureen Schertzer, a Petaluma homemaker, died yesterday in a Santa Rosa hospital after a long illness. She was 34.

She was a native of Scotland and reared and educated in South Africa and Canada.

Mrs. Schertzer lived in Southern Sonoma the last two years, moving there after living in San Francisco. The family home is at 555 Fair Avenue.

She was a member of the Petaluma Newcomers Club, the Hillcrest Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Elim Lutheran Church of Petaluma.

She is survived by her husband, Berndt Schertzer; three sons, Stephen, Eric and David Schertzer, all of Petaluma; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Abbott of San Francisco; and a sister, Margaret Barrett of Inverness.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sorensen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thorval Evenson officiating. Inurnment will be private at Cypress Hill Memorial Park.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the Hillcrest Hospital auxiliary fund in care of the hospital.
