MAURICE WHELAN

Maurice Whelan, 75, San Anselmo, was found dead Wednesday at his home. Death apparently was due to natural causes, according to the coroner. Funeral arrangements are pending at Arthur J. Sullivan & Co. in San Francisco.

MAURICE D. WHELAN

A Mass of Christian Burial for Maurice D. Whelan, 75, of San Anselmo will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at Mission Dolores Basilica, San Francisco.

Whelan died Wednesday at his home.

He had worked as a ship’s clerk for various shipping companies in the Bay Area and was a member of Local 34, Ships Clerks Association. He retired about 10 years ago.

Whelan was a native of San Francisco and lived there until he moved to San Anselmo in 1953.

Surviving are his wife, Jean F. Whelan of San Anselmo; a son, Robert D. Whelan of Fairfax; two daughters, Sandra J. Richards of Loomis, Placer County, and Maurean F. Whelan of Roseville, Placer County; a sister, Ruthmarie Ponting of San Francisco; and four grandchildren.

Burial will be private. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at Arthur J. Sullivan and Co. in San Francisco. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
