George S. Gage Passed Away Wednesday
George S. Gage, one of the pioneer residents of Marin county, and known here, died at his home in Novato Wednesday after an illness of several months, having been a sufferer from heart trouble. Mr. Gage had been a patient in the Petaluma General hospital and left there a few weeks ago for his home when he realized that he could not live. Death of the honored citizen caused regret not only in Novato, where he had been making his home for more than 14 years, but in Sonoma county, as well, where he was known and much respected.
The deceased was a poultry raiser and was associated with his sons in conducting one of the largest poultry ranches in northern Marin county. His stock has been entered in the Sonoma County Egg Laying contest for years and have won high places.
A native of Ohio, Mr. Gage was 87 years old. He was the father of Jas. And John Gage and Mrs. A. J. Wells of Novato. The Gage ranch is in the Indian Valley section, near Novato.
The funeral will take place from the residence of his son, James Gage, Friday
afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. Christiansen officiating. The interment
will be in the Novato cemetery. The funeral will be under the direction of the
Sawyer Undertaking Company.
