Veteran Laundryman Falls Under Moving Train – Dies Monday
Pierre Escallier, one of the veteran laundrymen of this section died Monday at the Cottage hospital where he was taken following a fatal accident in which he was run over by a Northwestern Pacific electric train near San Anselmo.
Escallier boarded a wrong train Sunday night for this city and in a few moments he discovered his mistake and leaped from the rapidly moving train. At the same time a train from San Rafael was moving into the San Anselmo depot, and the unfortunate man fell under this train. He was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state and died.
Pierre Escallier was the husband of Rose Escallier and devoted father of Blanche, Augusta, Alice, Peter and Marcel Escallier, a native of France, aged 61 years.
Friends and acquaintances attended the funeral services Wednesday, April 28, 1926, at 9 o’clock, at St. Raphael’s church, where requiem mass was said for the repose of his soul.
Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of the Sawyer Company of this city.
