MILTON R. MARTINELLI
Milton Ruben Martinelli of San Rafael, a survivor of Pearl Harbor, died this morning at a local hospital. He was 55.
At his request, his body will be donated to the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco.
A native of San Jose, Martinelli moved to Marin County three months ago from San Diego. Before retiring he worked for a Teamster’s local in Carson City, Nev.
Martinelli was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He suffered extensive injuries after being shot down shortly after the war began and spent more than four years in military hospitals.
He is survived by his wife, Leah; three daughters, Marie Mansfield of Carson City, Shirley Standard of San Jose and Donna Smith of Seattle, Wash.; three sons, Richard Martinelli of Carson City, Dennis King of San Jose and Leroy Martinelli of Quebec, Canada.
A memorial service is pending.
