ROBERT BECKER
A memorial service for Robert Becker of Mill Valley, a Marin resident for a bout five years, was held today at 2:30 p.m. at the Letterman Army Hospital chapel in San Francisco.
Becker died Sunday at a San Francisco hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 59.
He was born in North Dakota and grew up in that area. He was in the Marine Corps for 20 years and served during both World War II and the Korean War.
At the outbreak of World War II, Becker was in Peking where he was captured by the Japanese. He spent the entire war in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp.
He retired from the Marines as a captain in 1962. He lived in San Francisco until about 1975 when he moved to Marin.
He is survived by his daughter, __anne Kinne Foss of Rohnert Park, and three grandsons.
The family prefers memorial donations to Hospice of Marin.
