JOSEPH BARTHOLOMEW

A private family service for Joseph A. “Gallagher” Bartholomew was held Thursday at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.

Bartholomew died Tuesday in a local hospital following a short illness. He was 83.

A native of San Francisco, Bartholomew moved to Marin County 46 years ago.

He was a truck driver and member of Teamsters Union Local No. 85 of San Francisco for 54 years. Following his retirement, he worked an additional 13 years as a maintenance man at the old Marin County Courthouse.

Bartholomew is survived by two daughters, Irene Windrick of San Anselmo and Virginia Cullins of Woodacre; one sister, Rita Cameron of San Francisco; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family prefers contributions to the Marin Association for Retarded People.
