ALBERT A. PONSOCK Sr.

Albert A. Ponsock Sr., a former resident of Petaluma, died Tuesday in Reno after a long illness.

Pensock, 62, was an Air Force sergeant who retired from Hamilton Air Force Base after 27 years of service including the Korean War and World War II.

After retiring about 10 years ago, Ponsock had worked for ABC Brake in San Rafael and as a driving instructor. When he moved to Reno in 1971, he became a rancher.

Pensock was a member of Disabled American War Veterans and Moose Lodge 2249 in Reno. He also was a volunteer fireman in Reno. A new fire station in the Silver Knolls area will be dedicated in his honor. He was a native of Akron, Ohio.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Ponsock; a daughter, Ruth Ponsock; three sons, Clifford, Eugene and Albert Ponsock Jr., all of Reno; eight brothers and sisters; and five grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Walton Funeral Home, Sparks, Nev. Graveside services will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
