JOSEPH VIERRA
A Mass of Christian burial for Joseph Vierra of San Rafael will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mission San Rafael Archangel.
Vierra, 79, died Friday at a local convalescent hospital after a long illness.
He was born in the Azores and came to Marin County at age 17. He worked on several dairy farms and in restaurants. He was a member of the I.D.E.S.S.T. in Sausalito and of St. Raphael’s Church in San Rafael.
He is survived by two sisters, Rosa V. Rapozo of Tiburon and Anna Siquera of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds: “In Petaluma, April 25, 1980, Joseph Vierra, son of the late Antonia V. Lopes and Mary Bettencourt Lopes……brother-in-law of Mrs. Laura Lopes.” Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael, was in charge of arrangements.
