NOEL MARTIN
Marin County judge

Services will be held on May 13 for Judge Noel D. Martin.

He died in San Rafael from complications related to Parkinson’s disease on April 23. He was 76.

Judge Martin was born in Paso Robles. He graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco, and went on to graduate from Carnegie Tech in Pennsylvania and the University of San Francisco Law School.

He served with the armed forces in the Pacific Theater during World War II and again in the Korean War. His career began in the printing business with H.S. Crocker and later in private law practice in San Francisco. From 1972 until his retirement in 1986, he was on the bench in Marin Superior Court as a probate judge.

As a member of the court, he enjoyed performing hundreds of private weddings throughout Marin, including ones atop the Golden Gate Bridge, Mount Tamalpais and Angel Island.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Martin of Sausalito; two sons, Eric Martin of Portland and Doug Martin of Fairfax; a brother, John Martin of Lafayette; and one granddaughter.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on May 13 at the Marin Art and Garden Center, 30 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Ross.
