Laborer Jumps In Front Of Train
Deliberately throwing himself in front of the 6:18 electric train just opposite the Miramar Café in Sausalito Tuesday morning, Daniel McSweeney, a laborer, met instant death before the eyes of several railroad men who were on their way to work.
An investigation conducted by Deputy Coroner Ray Keaton disclosed that McSweeney had been drinking heavily for several days. Monday night McSweeney spent at the home of Frank Broad. Rising early, probably after a sleepless night, the man made his way to the track in his shirt sleeves and hatless.
The dead man was a brother of Timothy McSweeney, a bartender at 2188 Market street, San Francisco. He had been employed as a laborer around Sausalito for about a month. The body was brought to the Coroner’s morgue and arrangements made with the brother for the funeral to be held in San Francisco.
