Pioneer Belvedere Lady Passes Away
In the death of Elizabeth L. Holmes, on Saturday last, the widow of the late Charles S. Holmes, Belvedere lost one of its most cherished pioneer residents. The Holmes were one of the first families to make their home in Belvedere. She was a woman who was highly esteemed and respected by all classes, one that always took great pleasure in doing more than her bit in rendering philanthropic assistance in a quiet but effectual way. She has been an invalid for several years. She forgot her troubles for those of others. She was an active Christian Scientist. The remains were laid away in the family plot in Oakland. She was a native of New York, aged 71 years. She was the beloved mother of C. Edward, Lucy Ellen and E. Clarence Holmes, Mrs. Gertrude Kierulff and Mrs. Thos. H. Casey.
