Illness Fatal To Peter McGrath
An illness from which he had been suffering since shortly after his discharge on account of ill health from Camp Lewis, proved fatal Tuesday to Peter McGrath, a San Rafael boy, who passed away at the Cottage Hospital.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Kate McGrath, and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Meadowcraft.
The deceased developed pneumonia within a short time after an operation for appendicitis and in his weakened condition was unable to combat the affliction.
“Pete,” as he was popularly known among his hosts of friends, left some weeks ago with one of Marin’s draft contingents, but was rejected by the military medical men.
He was a member of the Mt. Tamalpais Parlor of Native Sons, of which he was a past president, and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was also a member of Painters Local No. 83.
The funeral took place this morning at the residence, 617 Second street, and at 9:30 a requiem mass was celebrated at St. Raphael’s church. Burial was made in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
The deceased was 26 years of age and had resided many years in San Rafael.
