JESPERINA LEONE
Jesperina “Mamie” Leone, 80, of Ross, a housewife, died Tuesday at a local hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of Leonard Leone, retired owner of Pacific Barber and Beauty Supply Co. in San Francisco.
Mrs. Leone was a native of Campo Bello di Mazzara, Italy, who moved to San Francisco as a young child. At her 50th wedding anniversary in 1970 she recalled her experiences during the 1906 earthquake and fire.
She had lived in Marin about 35 years.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Jay Leone of Greenbrae; a daughter, Angela Cognato of Ross; a brother, Joe Ingrassia of San Anselmo; five sisters, Grace LoCoco of San Rafael, Annie Basso of Los Angeles, Josephine Venturini and Angela Fambrini, both of San Francisco, and Stella Guglielmo of San Anselmo; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial [will] be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anselm’s Church, San Anselmo. Entombment will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.
