SYLVESTER SCHLADWEILER

Sylvester Schladweiler died this morning at his Mill Valley home. He was 68.

He is survived by his wife, Iola, and a son, Mike, a Mill Valley police officer.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel, Mill Valley.

SYLVESTER P. SCHLADWEILER

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sylvester P. Schladweiler, a Mill Valley resident since 1941, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mill Valley.

Schladweiler was dead on arrival Saturday at a local hospital. He was 68.

A native of Plum City, Wis., he was a retired liquor store owner.

When he came to the area, he first worked as a leadman in the plate shop at the Sausalito shipyards. He next became a rigger for Bethlehem Steel Corp. in San Francisco.

He then operated the grocery department of the Waldo Market in Marin City and then the Harbor Liquor Store in Mill Valley. He last ran Plaza Liquors in Ignacio from 1967 until retiring in 1977.

He is survived by his wife, Iola Schladweiler of Mill Valley; a son, Michael C. Schladweiler of Sonoma; two daughters, Patricia Scalia of San Rafael and Mary Jo Smith of Novato; three sisters, Marcella Parish of Durand, Wis., Sister Virgine Schladweiler of La Crosse, Wis., and Laverle Johnson of White Bear, Minn.; two brothers, Melvin Schladweiler of Spring Valley, Wis., and Gary Schaldweiler of Elmwood, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be held at 8 o’clock tonight at Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley. Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael. The family prefers memorial gifts to favorite charities.
