ROBERT MACKENZIE

Robert Mackenzie, an employee of the Marin Wildlife Center, was found dead in his San Anselmo home this morning, according to the Marin County coroner’s office.

He was 50. funeral arrangements are pending at Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.

KENT R. MACKENZIE

Kent Robert Mackenzie, 50, of San Anselmo, died unexpectedly Friday at home of an illness.

Mackenzie was the librarian and education assistant at the Marin Wildlife Center in San Rafael.

He was born in London and came to the U.S. at the age of 9. H graduated from Dartmouth College and got his master’s degree in film at the University of Southern California.

Mackenzie lived in Los Angeles for 20 years before moving to Marin about seven years ago.

He worked in Los Angeles as a documentary and television film editor, writer and producer. He made two documentary films in the early 1960s, “The Exiles” which dealt with the plight of Indians who leave their reservation to live in the city, and “Saturday Morning,” a series of interviews with teenagers about their views of life.

Mackenzie took up still photography in recent years, and did work for libraries and the wildlife center.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane Mackenzie of Santa Barbara and Karen Mackenzie of Santa Monica; a sister, Mrs. Dobbie Helmer of Los Angeles; and his close friend and companion, Marcia Keller of San Anselmo.

Private family services were held today at the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo. His family asked that memorial gifts go to the Marin Wildlife Center.
