LAURA TEMPLE KETT, 74

Laura Temple Kett, 74, of Sausalito, died on Saturday in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Kett was born in a Melones mining camp in Calaveras County, where her father was a mining engineer. She was educated at various boarding schools, including a school in Norway, graduated from Dominican Upper School, and attended Santa Rosa Junior College, the University of California and Dominican College.

She lived in Mill Valley from 1930 to 1940, then moved to Sausalito.

Mrs. Kett was the widow of Conrad Kett, a well-known Bay Area architect who died in 1952. She obtained a general contractor’s license after his death.

She was a 35-year member and past president, financial secretary and treasurer of the Sausalito Women’s Club, a past president of the Presidents Assembly of Marin, a past member of the Golden Gate District of the California Federation of Women’s Clubs, active in the State and national Associations of Registered Parliamentarians, and a member of the Northern California Women’s Auxiliary of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers.

She is survived by a son, Frederick Kett of Murphys, Calaveras County, and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Russell and Gooch Mortuary, Mill Valley. Her family asked that memorial contributions go [to] Guide Dogs for the Blind, San Rafael, or a donor’s favorite charity.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that she was the mother-in-law of Diane Kett of Murphys, and grandmother of Eric, Londa, Laura and Katherine Kett. Interment private, Lake County Cemetery.
