IDA CASASSA KELLY
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ida Casassa Kelly of Sonoma, who was Luther Burbank’s secretary, will be offered Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, Sebastopol.
Mrs. Kelly died Friday at a local hospital after a short illness. She was 87.
A native of Santa Rosa, she graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1912 and from Sweet’s Business College in 1914. She went to work for the famed horticulturist shortly after her college graduation.
Mrs. Kelly had also worked 40 years in real estate sales in the Rio Nido area along the Russian River.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Michael’s Italian Catholic Federation and Trenton Circle 176 of the Druid’s Lodge.
She is survived by three daughters, Dolores D. Hamblin of San Rafael, Celestine “Sally” Cittoni of Santa Rosa and Eileen A. Reno of Sonoma; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 8 tonight at the Lafferty and Smith Colonial Chapel, Santa Rosa. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
The family prefers donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
