BERNICE M. CRUZ
A funeral for Bernice M. Cruz of Terra Linda, a Marin resident for about 30 years and a former Marin Municipal Court clerk, will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.
Mrs. Cruz died Saturday at a local convalescent hospital following a lengthy illness. She was 70.
Mrs. Cruz was born in Oregon and moved to San Francisco as a child. She was raised in San Francisco and worked for Schenley Industries Inc.
She moved to Marin about 1950. She worked as a clerk in the Marin Municipal court for many years. She was retired.
Mrs. Cruz was a member and deacon of the Presbyterian Church of Novato. She was active in many church activities. She also was a volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael.
She was married to Carroll Cruz, who died several years ago.
She is survived by a son, Duane L. Butler of Novato; a sister, Claire Fron of Burlingame; and two grandchildren.
Burial will be private.
The family prefers memorial donations to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
