TED BENEDICT
Ted Benedict, 77, of Greenbrae, a retired golf pro, died Wednesday at a local hospital after an illness.
Benedict formerly owned a pro shop and driving range and managed a nine-hole course in the Las Gallinas area.
He had been a member of the Professional Golfers Association for 47 years, 32 of those years as a pro at the Waiale course in Honolulu.
Benedict moved to Marin in 1961.
He was a native of Tacoma, Wash., who moved to California at the age of 18 and became assistant pro at Crystal Springs, Burlingame.
After two years at Crystal Springs, he became head pro at Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno and a year later at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton. His next job was in Hawaii.
Surviving is his wife, Annette, of Greenbrae.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
