BETTY E. ROBERTS
Betty E. Roberts, a Novato resident, died Monday in a local hospital after a long illness. She was 66.
A native of Manila, she settled in Novato with her parents and family in 1915. She later lived in Oakland and Napa before returning to Novato in 1940.
She was a travel agent and one of the owners of the Wide Wide World Travel Agency in Novato where she worked since 1961. It was Novato’s first travel agency.
Before getting into the travel business, she held jobs as a receptionist in the late Dr. Ralphy Weseman’s office and for the U. S. Post Office. She and her husband, James Roberts operated the North Bay Service Garage in Novato.
She was a member of the Novato Chamber of Commerce and the Lady’s Auxiliary of the Novato Fire Department.
Survivors include her husband, James Roberts of Novato; a daughter, Peggy Hanley of Novato; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Redwood Chapel Funeral Home in Novato. Burial will be private.
The family prefers that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
