Death of A. P. HOTALING
He Passes Away After Long Sickness

A. P . Hotaling, the well known millionaire wholesale liquor dealer died at his home in the city last Friday evening after a sickness of two years, his death resulting from a stroke of paralysis from which he had long suffered. He leaves no will, as the estate was incorporated some time ago, his fortune falling to his widow and two surviving sons, Richard M. and Frederick C. Hotaling.

Mr. Hotaling was a native of New York and a descendant of the Dutch navigator, Hudson, for whom the Hudson River is named. At the age of twenty-five, he left New York, having been left to battle for himself in the world, and rounded the horn, landing at San Francisco in the year 1852. He soon engaged in the liquor business and in a short time had amassed a considerable fortune which grew until, at the time of his death, he was a multi-millionaire. He was interested to a great extent in many enterprises in this State and in Oregon and Washington. His bank in San Rafael was established about twenty years ago. He was also a large property owner in Marin County as well as in San Francisco.

The funeral took place Sunday morning at the Masonic Temple under the auspices of the California Lodge No. 1, [copy cut off]
