Death of Pioneer Railroad Man
James Madison Johnson, a well-known railroad conductor on the Northwestern Pacific road, between San Rafael and Fairfax, died in the hospital after about a month’s confinement here.
For 35 years he was a conductor on the railway between San Rafael and Ukiah and was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors. An old pioneer, he had resided in California all of his 56 years.
The funeral will be held today (Thursday) at 2 o’clock at Ukiah.
The deceased is survived by a wife, Matilda, and three children, Arthur, Glenn and James Johnson, Jr.
