HERMAN RATHAUS

Funeral was held Monday at the Redwood Chapel for Herman O. Rathaus who died Saturday at a local hospital following a brief illness. He was 75.

A native of New York, Rathaus came to California as an infant and moved to Novato 30 years ago. He was a resident of the Los Robles Mobile Home Park.

He retired several years ago after working 52 years as a bookkeeper for the Southern Pacific Railroad in San Francisco.

Rathaus was a member of the Novato Senior Citizens, Standard Lodge No. 440, Free and Accepted Masons of Oakland and the Brotherhood of Railway, Airline and Steamship Clerks.

Surviving are his wife, Carola Rathaus of Novato; two sons, Walter Rathaus of Novato and Carl Rathaus of Sonoma, and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions to the Marin County Heart Association are preferred by the family.
