ROBERT KUEHNL
The funeral service for Robert Kuehnl, 61, retired Redwood High School Latin teacher, will be held in Wisconsin.
Kuehnl, a resident of Greenbrae, died Saturday at a hospital in San Francisco after an illness.
Kuehnl, who had been a teacher in the Tamalpais High School District for more than 25 years, retired a year ago.
He retired to Greece but became ill and recently returned to the United States.
He had visited Greece in 1966 on a sabbatical leave and studied at the University of Athens and the American School of Classical Studies.
Kuehnl first taught at Sir Francis Drake High School and then became one of the founding staff members at Redwood High School. He had been head of the language department at Redwood High School and had taught history, English and language.
Kuehnl was a graduate of Marquette University with a master’s degree from Columbia University. Kuehnl had been a student Newspaper and yearbook adviser and an active member of the Tamalpais Teachers Association.
Surviving is a sister in Wisconsin.

A memorial service for Robert Kuehnl of Greenbrae will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Larkspur.
Kuehnl, 61, a retired Redwood High School Latin teacher, died May 24 after an illness. He taught in the Tamalpais High School District 25 years before retiring last year.
