ELLA MILLER Of Novato Dies At 67
Mrs. Ella L. Miller, long prominent in Novato community affairs and widow of a former Novato fire chief, died Saturday at a Marin hospital after an illness of about two years. She was 67.
A native of Mott, near Mount Shasta, Siskiyou County, Mrs. Miller moved to Novato shortly after her marriage in 1923 to Fred Miller, who was a member of the Novato Fire Department for 20 years and its chief for nine years until his death in December, 1947.
During her long residence in Novato, Mrs. Miller played a prominent part in community affairs.
She was a member of the Novato School Board for 10 years, served on the first Community House Council, was a charter member and past president of the Novato Parent-Teacher Assn., past arch druidess of Sylvan Circle 115 of Druids, past president of the auxiliary to the Novato Volunteer Firemen’s Assn., member of the Women’s Improvement Club of Novato, secretary of the Novato Fire Commission for 20 years and secretary of the Marin County Farm Bureau for 10 years until forced to take a leave of absence due to illness recently.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marlene Stark of Boyes Hot Springs, and two grandchildren, Raymond Stark, 5, and Gail Stark, 4.
Private funeral services were held today at the Redwood Chapel Mortuary in Novato, with interment in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
