ALBERT GARAVENTA
Private funeral was held this morning at the Redwood Chapel for Albert L. Garaventa, former owner of the Creamy corner here, who died yesterday morning at Novato Community Hospital.
A native of Jamestown, California, Garaventa lived most of his life in San Francisco where he operated the Golden West Dairy which was later combined with the People’s Dairy.
He was married in San Francisco in 1948 to his wife, Elena, who survives. They made their home at 26 Tyler Street.
In 1952 he and a partner built the Creamy Corner at 1401 Grant Avenue. Garaventa retired about two years ago.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara Garaventa of Petaluma and Karen Garrett of Sonoma; a brother, Roy Garaventa of San Francisco, and one grandson.
Entombment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity or spiritual bouquets at any Catholic Church.
