Chapman Funeral Held in Oakland

The funeral of Edgar C. Chapman, prominent lawyer and pioneer resident of Corte Madera, was held privately in Oakland. He passed away at his home in Corte Madera, following a long illness.

Chapman came to Marin county about 40 years ago. Chapman Park was named after him. The Chapman home on Corte Madera hill is one of the county’s show places.

Chapman for the most part practiced law in San Francisco courts although he was well known in the Superior Court here where he conducted many cases successfully.

He was a brother of Melvin C. and Alfred P. Chapman and the uncle of Melvin C. Chapman Jr. and a native of Illinois, aged 75 years.

Edgar C. Chapman, 75, prominent resident of Corte Madera and connected with many past civic activities, died at his home in Corte Madera the 31st of January. At one time he owned all of what is now known as Chapman Park. Chapman made law his profession. He passed away after a prolonged illness and leaves many friends in a town which held him in high esteem.

CHAPMAN – In Corte Madera, January 31, 1932, Edgar C. Chapman, loving brother of Melvin C. and Alfred P. Chapman and uncle of Melvin C. Chapman Jr., a native of Illinois, aged 75 years, 11 months and 17 days.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Cathedral Chapel of the Grant D. Miller Mortuary, 2850 Telegraph ave., Oakland, Tuesday, February 2, 1932, at 3:30 o’clock p.m. Interment strictly private.
