M. K. WESPECHER
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin for Marguerite K. Wespecher who died Sunday evening in her home following a short illness. She was 80.
She was born November 24, 1897 in Wichita, Kansas and came to San Francisco as a child. Following the 1906 earthquake, she moved to Mill Valley.
In 1922 she was married to Phillip G. Wespecher, a veteran of World War I and a native of Hungary. Both worked at the Sherman-Clay headquarters in Oakland. He died in 1967.
During World War II, Mrs. Wespecher served as a secretary for the military in Hawaii. Later she was employed by the Department of Immigration and Naturalization, retiring in 1962.
Mrs. Wespecher was an active member of the Whistlestoppers of Novato and just two weeks ago she spoke before the city council in support of a senior citizens’ park in the Seventh Avenue-Carmel Drive area.
Surviving are a son, Phillip R. Wespecher and a daughter, Barbara J. Vidor, of Novato, and two grandchildren.
Friends may call this evening at the Chapel of Marin or 3 p.m. Thursday at 1201 Vallejo, following the funeral.
Memorial contributions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Whistlestoppers of Novato are preferred by the family.
