N. ‘TEX’ CHILLSON

Funeral was held this afternoon at the Redwood Chapel for Neville “Tex” Chillson who died Monday in a local hospital following a long illness. He was 71.

A native of Kentucky, he served 31 years in the Air Force and retired in 1961 from Hamilton Air Force Base with the rank of master sergeant. He was a veteran of world War II and the Korean War.

After retirement, he and his wife, Ethel, leased the Pacheco Ranch on Indian Valley Road for 10 years and operated riding and boarding stables there. Later they operated a stable on Olive Avenue and were living in the Atherton Avenue area at the time of his death.

Chillson was a 25-year member of the Marin County Sheriff’s Posse and a former member of the Novato Horsemen’s Association.

He is survived by his wife.

Burial was at Bahia Valley Memorial Park. Contributions to the Marin County Diabetes Association, Ross Valley Drive, San Rafael, are preferred by the family.
