Man Writes Farewell and Takes Poison

After writing a note of farewell to his brother and sister in San Francisco last Monday, Thomas J. Ryan, of 2911 California street, San Francisco, took a room in the Gales House, Sausalito, and committed suicide by taking poison.

Ryan wrote the letter at the Tavern on Mt. Tamalpais, and it was received by George Ryan Tuesday morning. He immediately came to Mill Valley and organized a searching party, under the impression that his brother had ended his life somewhere on the mountain.

It was later learned that the suicide had inquired of William Gorman of Sausalito for direction to a hotel, where he was taken. Ryan paid for his room and nothing was heard of him until an attempt was made to call him Tuesday morning. He was 55 years of age. His sister, Miss Fanny Ryan, is an attorney at law in San Francisco. The remains were taken charge of by Coroner Sawyer.
