Mrs. C. L. Nelson, long a resident of San Rafael, passed away in the Lane Hospital, San Francisco Sunday evening, August 25th. Mrs. Nelson had for several years been in very poor health and was at times a very great sufferer, having undergone some very severe surgical operations during that time. She had just passed through another, but had not the reserve forces left to endure the shock and rally.

Funeral services were held in the undertaking parlors of Halsted Bros., San Francisco, on Tuesday the 27th, which were strictly private, Rev. W. Angwin officiating. Interment was at Cypress Lawn cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson had been a resident of San Rafael for twelve years. Neighbors and friends having the privilege of her acquaintance found her most kind and generous, always ready to help the needy and distressed. None were turned empty away when it was within her power to render aid. Self-denial and sacrifice for others were the expressions of her life, not alone for her own, but for all that were in need. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Methodist church, participating in all its activities and benevolences, at times beyond her strength. She will be greatly missed in the church and community, but most of all by the family where, as wife and mother, she was so deeply consecrated to the welfare of the home and her loved ones.

Besides her husband, C. L. Nelson, she leaves three daughters, Mrs. J. E. Warner, of San Rafael, Mrs. J. R. Ingraham, of Chico, and Mrs. E. N. Snitzjer of San Jose; and two sons, Irving C., of Oakland, and Milton in the service of the United States Navy.

Of her the words of Holy Writ are most appropriate: “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. They rest from their labors and their works do follow them.”
