HEDLEY B. MORRIS
Private funeral has been held for Hedley B. Morris of Corte Madera.
Morris, 77, died yesterday after brain surgery. He had fallen late Thursday while walking his dog.
Morris was born in Oakland. He was a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.
He was an employee for the Radio Corporation of America for 44 years and last served as a construction engineer in Hawaii before retiring in 1964.
Morris was in the Navy during both world wars. He was commander of the Navy’s radio station in Wahiawa, Hawaii, during World War II and after the war was a member of Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s staff in Tokyo. He retired at the rank of captain.
Returning to RCA in 1950, Morris worked in a number of locations throughout the world, including five years in Cuba. He was transferred to Hawaii in 1959.
Morris was a life member of Masonic Lodge 371 in Honolulu. He was also a member of the Marin County SIRS.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gladys Morris of Corte Madera and his sister, Lucy Spencer of Oakland.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in San Francisco or a favorite charity.
