GEORGE A. KEOWN
George A. Keown of Novato, retired postal service employee, died yesterday at a local convalescent hospital after a brief illness.
Keown worked as a postal service supervisor in New York, where he was born and reared, and then transferred with the postal service to Phoenix. In 1962 he moved to Santa Clara. He was active there in a rhythm band which played in convalescent hospitals.
Three years ago, he moved to San Rafael where he lived at the Martinelli House until becoming ill.
Survivors are his wife, Alice of Novato; his daughter, Arlene Lamm of Novato; his sister, Loretta Maloney of Santa Monica, and a granddaughter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Novato followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.
The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato. Visitation will be at the funeral home beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
