WILLIAM GEORGE

William M. George, an employee of the Marin County Public Works Department and longtime resident of the county, died unexpectedly yesterday at a local hospital after collapsing on the job.

George, 43, a native of San Francisco, was raised and attended schools in San Rafael. He was a Novato resident for the past 11 years. He was a graduate of San Rafael High School.

George was a member of the Novato High Boosters Club, Novato Parlor No. 305, Native Sons of the Golden West, and the Marin County Association of Public Employees.

He is survived by his wife, Diane George; four daughters, Susan Harvey, Mary, Angela and Jennifer George, all of Novato; two sons, William Jr. and Daniel George, both of Novato; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene George of San Rafael; and a brother, Ken George of Jacksonville, Fla.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church, San Rafael. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The Rosary will be recited tomorrow at 8 p.m. at Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, San Anselmo.
