ALMETTA ALVAREZ

Almetta Alvarez, former San Rafael resident, died yesterday at her home in Petaluma after a short illness. She was 73.

A native of Oakville, Tex., she moved to California in 1926 settling in San Francisco. Mrs. Alvarez had lived in San Rafael from 1937 until 1972 when she moved to Petaluma.

Mrs. Alvarez had worked as a nurse’s aide at the Keokuk Rest Home in Petaluma.

She is survived by a daughter, Audrey Powell of Novato; a son, Lyndle Stephens of Novato; four sisters, Connie Berry of Petaluma, Margene Locke of Windsor, Lucile Rash of Alaska and Lillian Butler of Paso Robles; two brothers, Nicholas Parrott of Sebastopol and Robert Parrott of Petaluma; her stepmother, Mary Parrott of Petaluma; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Sorensen Funeral Home, Petaluma. Private burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.
