FRANCES W. CONSTABLE

Funeral services for Frances W. Constable, wife of the architect who designed the rebuilt Mission San Rafael and other churches in Marin County, will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Christ Episcopal Church, Sausalito.

Mrs. Constable, 93, died at home in Sausalito after a long illness.

She married Arnold Constable in their native Newcastle, England, in 1909. They moved to Seattle and then moved to Sausalito in 1923. She was a graduate of the University of Durham and a high school teacher in England.

Her husband is widely known for his churches, and is an expert on Gothic design. Among Marin County buildings he designed are the Novitiate and Guzman Hall at Dominican College, the Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Sausalito, the Dominican Priory in Kentfield and six buildings at the College of Marin. His first church in California was St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in San Francisco.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Francis A. Constable of Sausalito and Kenneth Constable of Capitola, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Mill Valley.

The family prefers contributions to the Christ Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
