LOREN T. COVELL
Funeral for Loren T. Covell of Tomales, Marin County fireman, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Tomales Presbyterian Church.
Covell, 35, died Sunday in a local hospital after an illness of four months. Born and reared in Richmond, he moved to San Anselmo after graduation from high school.
Covell served in the National Guard after high school and eight years ago joined the Marin County Fire Department. He had served at fire stations at Hicks Valley and Point Reyes Station and for the past seven years had served at the Tomales Fire Station.
Covell had been very active in Tomales community projects. He had been a volunteer instructor of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for Tomales residents.
Covell was a member of the Tomales Presbyterian Church, a trustee of Tomales Town Hall, a member of the Druids of Tomales and the Marin County Firemen’s Association.
While working for the fire department, Covell had continued his education and recently earned an associate of arts degree in fire science from Santa Rosa Junior College.
He is survived by his wife, Floranna Covell of Tomales; two sons, Kevin and Steven Covell and a daughter, Kim Covell, all of the family home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Covell of Petaluma; his grandmother, Hilda Strain of San Anselmo; six brothers, Henry Covell of El Sobrante, Edwin Covell of Richmond, George Covell of San Anselmo, Dennis Covell of Sebastopol, Daniel Covell of Novato and Tim Covell of Petaluma; and three sisters, Cecelia Curtis of San Anselmo and Cathleen Silva and Joan Covell of Petaluma.
Burial will be in Tomales Presbyterian Cemetery.
