MATHILDA STEINHAUSER
Mathilda Steinhauser, 78, of Novato, died yesterday in a local convalescent hospital after a long illness.
A native of New York, she lived most of her life there before moving to Marin about three years ago. She lived with a daughter, Anne Haig, at 785 St. Francis Avenue.
Mrs. Steinhauser’s husband, Albert, a retired New York policeman, died several years ago.
She also is survived by a sister, Minnie Barnett of Florida, and three grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 8 p.m. today at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin, Novato. Inurnment will be private. Her family asked that memorial contributions go to a favorite charity.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that she was the grandmother of John, Marianne and Kathleen Haig.
