JAMES C. PRUETT
James C. Pruett, a Two Rock School District trustee, died yesterday at a Burlingame hospital.
Pruett, 53, collapsed while on business and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A native of Galveston, Tex., he moved to San Francisco as a youngster and attended school there. He and his family moved to Two Rock 15 years ago.
Pruett had served on the Two Rock school board since 1969 and was beginning his third term. He had served several terms as board clerk.
“The school board will feel a keen sense of loss,” district Superintendent Helen Putnam said. “He was a fine board member who devoted countless hours to the school and we will all miss him very much.”
Pruett also was an active member of the Two Rock Presbyterian church and often spent weekends caring for the church building and the adjacent cemetery.
Pruett served in the Air Force during World War II. For the past 22 years, he had owned and operated a wholesale electrical business serving San Francisco.
He was also a member of the San Francisco Masonic Lodge. A son, John C. Pruett II, died in an automobile accident four months ago.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Pruett; three sons, James, Jeff and Jay Pruett; and a brother, John R. Pruett, all of Petaluma.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Parent Funeral Chapel, Petaluma. Burial will be in Two Rock Cemetery.
