Man Meets Death In Auto Accident
Walter C. Bailey, contractor and builder of Inverness, was almost instantly killed last Sunday afternoon when his machine overturned on a grad and pinned its driver underneath.
Mrs. Winifred Bailey, wife of the deceased, who was in the car at t he time, suffered only a few bruises and contusions. She was thrown clear of the car when it left the road. According to her statement, she and her husband were doing down a hill a half mile above Inverness when the car suddenly shot to the side of the road. Striking a chuck hole, it went over a 20-foot embankment. The accident was seen by men in the boathouse a short distance away and help was soon secured to lift the machine from the man. It is believed that death was instantaneous. Deputy Coroner William Sorensen removed the body to the F. E. Sawyer Parlors.
Bailey was 46 years of age and had lived in Inverness many years. He was well known there and highly respected.
