RUSSELL McGOWAN

Russell C. McGowan, a 73-year resident of Sausalito, died today in a San Francisco hospital after a long illness. He was 77.

McGowan was born in San Jose and moved to Sausalito when he was 4.

He was an Army veteran of World War I. McGowan worked as an electrician in Sausalito.

McGowan was a member of the Joseph P. McQuade Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in San Francisco and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 551 in Santa Rosa.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice Gales of Santa Rosa; two sisters, Edna Teixeira of San Carlos and Floy Seward of Geyserville; one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Private services have been held. Burial was at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper gives Mr. McGowan’s middle name as Carroll, and says that he was the grandfather of Nicoli War, and great-grandfather of Lisa Hanan. Keaton’s Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
