GERTRUDE WILLIAMS
Gertrude C. Williams, a 51-year resident of San Rafael, died in a local hospital Saturday after a long illness.
Mrs. Williams was the wife of t he late Harry M. Williams, a long-time Marin mortuary owner and civic leader. Williams died in May.
Mrs. Williams was born in Buffalo, N.Y. She came to California as a small girl.
After their marriage in 1920, the couple moved to San Rafael in 1926 where Williams served as chief deputy coroner and later as deputy public administrator.
In 1945, Williams started his own mortuary. Mrs. Williams served as secretary-treasurer for the firm for 30 years.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Marin Historical Society, Auxiliary Veterans of World War I, American Legion Auxiliary 179, and a honorary member of the Marin Zonta Club, a group of businesswomen.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Ann Harder of Terra Linda, a sister, Arline Milligan of Fairfax, and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church, San Rafael. The Rosary will be recited tomorrow at 8 p.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
The family prefers memorial contributions to Marin Aid for Retarded Children, San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper names her grandchildren: Daniel W., Lisa A., and David E. Harder. She was the sister of the late Lillian Hogan.
