Death Calls For William Barnard

William L. Barnard, pioneer and one of the best known men in Marin county, passed away last Friday after a brief illness from heart trouble.

Barnard came here from Massachusetts with his parents when a young man. Except for a short period as a seaman, he spent the rest of his life in San Rafael. For many years he was a highly valued employee of t he Wells Fargo Company, running between San Rafael and San Quentin in the days of the old North Pacific Coast railroad.

He was the husband of the late Belle Barnard and the father of Mrs. J. M. Hecht and the late Robert Barnard. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. A. E. DuJardin, Mrs. R. W. Krobitzsch, Mrs. William Riess, Edward W. and Benjamin I. Barnard. He was 71 years of age and a member of the Knights of Maccabees and Golden Gate Council No. 551, National Union.

The funeral was held Monday, at the parlors of the F. E. Sawyer Company, and cremation was made in Oakland.
